How Can Teens Relate To The Maze Runner

      In the book, The Maze Runner, by James Dashner, the main character Thomas goes through many experiences that teens can relate to such as confusion and loneliness.  Thomas finds his way out and this is optimistic for all young people.  When things seem the most difficult, you have to find a solution.  But it will work out.

      Thomas, the main character in The Maze Runner, gets trapped in a different world with other boys who have no memory of the past other than dreams of an organization known as WCK. He hopes to escape by remembering his past and clues to help him along the way. Teens reading this can relate to this story because Thomas feels alone and confused by whats going on. Teens feel alone and face many challenges in their life like having to move onto a new school.  It's just Thomas that is going through these feeling but teens all over  every single day go through these feelings.

       I know this because next year I will be attending high school and I will have to face new challenges and feel alone and make new friends. I will try to draw from my experiences from when  I started middle school. I as a teen can relate to Thomas and his fears.  Even though we don't live in a maze or are sent up in an elevator we all feel what Thomas feels every day. Teens all over can very much relate to this. For myself as a teen, its hard to go through all these feelings, but Thomas did and he found a way to make it better by finding a way out with the rest of the boys.

      Yes I am scared and nervous about high school but teens every where know whats it like having these feeling just like Thomas.Teens can learn from this by knowing Thomas is going through the same  things we all are going through. It's very clear you can draw experiences from your past, as well as learn new skills in order to move forward with your life.  Challenges can be temporary but if you think it through, you can move on to the future.

     

     


      Hi my name is Lauren over the summer.I read the Maze Runner,Wonder,Looking For Alaska.
All of these books where amazing to read but my favorite was the Maze Runner by James Dashner. I particularly liked that the main character is trying to find his way out of the maze while the other characters were not. I like that it is science fiction and maybe some day another world will exist or maybe there is another world out there in the universe.

      I'm  a very big reader and I love to read when I can. My favorite place to read would be on the the beach and when I'm at a cafe. When I'm reading I really pay close attention to what the author is telling. I started loving reading when I was in 5th grade.  My ELA  teacher got me really into reading. She had the best library with so many amazing books. My favorite genres are science fiction, fairy tales, young adult fiction, historical.

      I like to read in class during project Real. It gives us an independent time to read and enjoy stories. I look forward to reading time everyday.
